The NBA has a similar deal with MGM Resorts International that allows it to access in-game data. In addition, the league has formed a new alliance with Sports Integrity that is focused on preserving the integrity of games. But the NBA has not yet developed a policy on how it will deal with sports gambling.
As for MLB, its rule against gambling is publicized on dugout walls and prohibits anyone associated with a baseball team from placing bets on any game. It also forbids anyone from seeking or accepting a bribe to fix a game. If a player violates the rules, they are permanently banned from Major League Baseball.
In Kentucky, sports betting began in 2019 and is overseen by the state lottery, which partnered with DraftKings to operate the online option. Illinois passed sports betting legislation in 2019 and it launched in March 2020, with retail and online options available from a range of sites including DraftKings, BetMGM, PointsBet, and FanDuel. The state is planning to allow mobile and in-game betting in 2024.
